JAMMU, Mar 3: Continuing their protest for the third consecutive day, members of Food & Allied Workers Union, J&K, held a strong demonstration here today and highlighting their demands.
They raised slogans against the State Government and in support of their demands like revision of Bag Rates as per price index, enhancement of MWG at par with FCI pattern, release of pending payments to Muffassil workers, release of monthly wages by 10th of each month, timely deposition of contributions deducted from workers on account of PF, ESI and LIC, provision of Listman for City Supply, grant of City Supply lead charges and implementation of Pension scheme.
They appealed the Governor N N Vohra to personally look into their grievances and issue necessary instructions for redressal of the same even as at the same time, they also threatened to further intensify the agitation if the Government does not consider their genuine demands.
While addressing the workers, president of the Food & Allied Workers Union, Bishan Das alleged that the department was turning dead ear to the grievances and demands of the workers, who were being treated as bonded labourers. He vowed to continue the struggle to a logical conclusion.
Pertinent to mention that agitated over no response of the Government towards their grievances and demands, the Food and Allied workers are protesting for the last three days and have completely suspended their work.
