JAMMU, Mar 4: Expressing serious concern over the proposed move of Union Home Ministry to constitute a Coordination Committee on return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits to Valley, activists of various KP organizations staged a protest demonstration in front of Relief Commissioner’s Office here, today which was led by M.K. Yogi of NC Migrant cell.
They also submitted a memorandum to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner demanding that real representatives of community be included in the Committee so that they can highlight the aspirations of the displaced people properly.
The representatives of, ASKPC, Thinkers Forum, AMCCC, BJP Migrant Cell, NC Migrant Cell, Secular Front, Non Camp Coordination Committee, Bohra Sabha, APMCC, LJP State Migrant Unit, JCC, Mata Jawala Ji Trust Khrew, Jagti Welfare Society, , PN Bhat Memorial Trust, Congress Migrant Cell, PDP Migrant Cell, KPC, Kheer Bhawani Trust, Jagti, Displaced Youth Forum, J&K Nationalist Movement, K P Sangarsh Committee, KPUF, Welfare Committee Gangyal, Samuth, Displaced Kashmiri Sikh Conference, Kashmir Sikh Sangath, Voice of KPs etc.
Raising slogans against the proposed move, the protestors expressed anger and anguish over what they called the highhandedness of Home Minister of India who has moved a proposal to constitute a Committee of some blue eyed boys by ignoring the real representatives of the community.
They demanded that genuine people who have also suffered during the exile be included in the Committee so that they can be able to highlight the issues in right perspective and as per the aspirations of the exiled people.
They while rejecting the proposed Committee demanded that a fresh list be framed with the consultation of genuine leadership of the displaced Community as proposed list is an indication that GoI is non serious about the return and rehabilitation of the community.
Meanwhile Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) and Magam Bangil Sabha has also expressed its apprehensions over the proposed move saying this way the Government has back stabbed the displaced Pandits.
KHC convener P L Koul Budgami while rejecting the proposed list said that Government can’t thrust leadership over the community. He said this way the BJP has betrayed the displaced Pandits. Budgami said that if BJP is sincere towards the rehabilitation of the Pandits in Valley it should frame a Coordination Committee comprising of genuine leadership and carve out a satellite township within Valley for rehabilitation of community as promised earlier.
Bangil Sabha chief Raj Nath Raina said that BJP was hoodwinking the Pandits and it has backtracked from its promises on settling Pandits at one place in Kashmir. He said the community has been backstabbed by BJP led Government at Centre just to please the PDP.
