JAMMU, Mar 4: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, today said that the Police Department has laid special focus on infrastructure building as it has an important role in enhancing efficiency of the Organisation.
The DGP was chairing Board of Directors Meeting of J&K Police Housing Corporation (PHC) here today at Police Headquarters.
The meeting was convened to review the functioning of PHC and discuss pace of work on different projects presently under execution with the Corporation.
The meeting was told that double storey store building at Babateng Pattan, constructed under Alternate Accommodation Scheme has been completed and is being handed over to the concerned unit. Besides police post building at Aloosa Bandipore has been completed under modernization programme and would be made functional soon.
It was also informed that various works are under execution in different districts of the State, which includes police station buildings at Herpora Shopian, Safapora Ganderbal, Ransoo Reasi, Doda and Rajouri. District Police Office Awantipora and Kathua, Sub District Police OfficeTangmarg, Police Post Fiderpora Sopore, Shivkhori Reasi, Batallion Headquarter at Palhallan Pattan, up-gradation of PCR building at Jammu, Zonal Police Headquarter at Srinagar and Police Station at Gulmarg.
Rajendra said that JKP, under its modernization scheme, launched a mega construction programme to strengthen its components and enhance living and working facilities for its jawans and officers. Various buildings, barracks and alternate accommodations were constructed at various locations across the State to accommodate the personnel.
The DGP disclosed that during past some years a huge building infrastructure has been raised in all the districts of the State and many construction works are under execution which could house the police offices including headquarters of different wings and armed battalions. He said that under the scheme, the Organization has been constructing residential accommodations as well with the aim to enhance living and working facilities for all ranks of the department.
In view of the increasing manpower, living facilities are being upgraded at all places in the State and several constructions are under execution covering various locations of far-flung areas of the State, besides district headquarters and towns, the DGP added.
Earlier, Managing Director, PHC, A. K. Choudhary gave detailed resume on status of different projects completed and the pace of other works which are under execution in various areas of the State. He said that special focus is laid on to ensure use of quality material in the construction and completion of the works within the prescribed period to avoid expenditure escalation.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, Alok Mengi, Chief Town Planner Jammu, Joginder Singh, Superintending Engineer PHC, Nazir Ahmed Tak and Financial Advisor PHC, Anil Dogra and ADO, ML Sharma.
