JAMMU, Mar 4: Jammu and Kashmir Muslim leaders demanded to elect the Aquaf Committee members by voting.
Addressing a joint press conference, Gulzar Ahmed, Ex-MLC Rajouri, Fazal Ahmed, President, Choudhary Haji Memorial Institute of Education, Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh, general secretary, Jamia Masjid, Talab Khatikan, Anam Hafiz Choudhary, Ex-member Advisory Board, Advocate Zaffar Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary, Fassees Majeed and Javed Iqbal Choudhary demanded dissolution of Aquaf administration and chairman from all over J&K.
They stated that the funds generated from Dargah, Aquaf rented shops, grave yards and lands are being misused, adding that the retired Government/present officers should not be appointed in the Aquaf Committee, J&K.
“The committee must have the power to recruit the deserving candidates for the post/duty which he/she will be assigned. Moreover the members of the Aquaf Committee must have ultimate power to take decision in this regard”, they added.
They stated that the committee must work only for the development of Aquaf, adding that the former Chief Ministers from Kashmir region have always engaged their own people hailing from Kashmir region for their vested interest.
They further said that the previous Chief Minister of J&K also committed the same crime by electing his own people from Kashmir region by ignoring the Muslims of Jammu region.
They urged the Governor to dissolve the present Aquaf Committee/Chairman/Incharge including all the admisistration of the Aquaf of J&K.
