JAMMU, Mar 8: Simula XI defeated Nagrota Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 11 runs to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing Salute & Tribute to Siachen Martyrs T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Cricket Association at Parade ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Simula XI scored a good total of 150 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Mohit Puri was the top scorer with 54 runs off 41 balls, studded with 8 magnificent fours, while Puneet Kumar contributed quick-fire 24 runs off 12 balls with 2 sixes and one four. Skipper Dhruv Mahajan, Hardeep Singh and Anshuman Sharma contributed 23, 18 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Nagrota Cricket Club, Riaz, Bakshi and Rajinder took 2 wickets each, Kaka and Irshad claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Nagrota Cricket Club managed to score 139 runs in 19.2 overs by losing all their wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 11 runs. Naresh top scored with 29 runs, while Raju, Irshad and Badal contributed 26, 24 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For Simula, Dhruv Mahajan was the most successful bowler, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Sameer Khajuria bagged 2 wickets. Vikram Singh, Hardeep Singh (Prince), Raman Dutta and Gulzar claimed one wicket each. Mohit Puri was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant innings of 54 runs.
The match was officiated by Madan Verma and Sanju as umpires, while Amarjeet Singh was the scorer.
