IGP Armed flags-off J&K Canoe Slalom team

JAMMU, Mar 8: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed, Jammu, Shafkat Ali Watali, today flagged off State Canoe Slalom team to participate in National Slalom Championship being held at Indore from March 11, 2016.
The flag-off ceremony of the team comprising of 20 paddlers, both men and women, was held at Railway Station, here today.
While flagging off the team for the prestigious National Championship, Watali said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has always been at the fore front in promotion of sports in the State be it by way of providing platform to youth by organizing sports events under Civic Action Programme (CAP) or organizing sports coaching camps.
The transport facilities for the players have been provided by J&K Police.
Earlier, while interacting with players and the team management, he said that team spirit, coordination and understanding among the players is pivotal to get desired results in National Level events.
He hoped that the players will play to their best potential and will bring laurels to the State.
Among others, the flag off ceremony was attended by Sham Sunder Sharma, SSP APCR Jammu, P D Sharma, Deputy CO IRP 14th Bn, Kuldeep Handoo, Sports Officer J&K Police, Bilquis Mir, General Secretary of J&K Water Sports Association and other office bearers of the Association including Zahoor Ahmad, Mohammad Zahid and Ghulam Hussain.
