JAMMU, Mar 17: The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association  has urged the Vice-Chancellor Professor R D  Sharma to authorize implementation of ‘Interim Order’ dated 03.12.2009, issued by the  High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in SWP No. 2254/2009 and CMP No. 2990/09, for consideration of their president R L  Kaith for the post of Assistant Registrar.
The appeal was made during a meeting of the Association, held   under the chairmanship of S Surjeet Singh Heer.
The Association members said that Mr Kaith had qualified the written entrance test and was shortlisted for the said post but unfortunately was not interviewed by the then Selection Committee of the University and that’s why he felt constrained to approach the court for seeking justice.
The Association members also urged the Vice-Chancellor to personally check the Reservation Roster Maintenance Registers or direct the Assistant Registrar (Estab) to show the same to them in order to confirm whether the roster points meant for SC/ST have been implemented in toto or not.
The Association members further demanded membership for SC/ST in the competent bodies like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council, Selection Committees, etc as per the instructions issued to the University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2009.
Besides, the Association resolved to present its next ‘Ambedkar Award 2016’ to Advocate Ashok Bassotra for his constant service rendered to promote the education of the public in the teaching of Ambedkar.
