JAMMU, Mar 20: NMCC and Dev Cricket Club registered convincing victories over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 1st SP Smart T20 Cup-2016, being organized by chief organizer, Vicky Raina and his team at MA Stadium, here.
In the first match, NMCC defeated Whites Cricket Club by 8 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, WCC scored a paltry total of 97 runs in 18 overs. King Ji top scored with 28 runs, while Deepu and Rohit contributed 22 and 18 runs to the total respectively. Virender and Rahul were the successful bowlers for NMCC, who scalped 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In reply, nmcc rode on a brilliant innings of unbeaten 59 runs off 39 balls, studded with 9 boundaries by Rahul, chased the required target in just 13 overs. Rahul Dutta also contributed valuable 25 runs to the total. Manoj and Bittu claimed one wicket each for WCC. Rahul was adjudged as man of the match for his magnificent innings of unbeaten 59 runs.
In another match, Dev Cricket Club defeated Bhawani Cricket Club by 6 wickets.
Put into bat, Bhawani Cricket Club scored a fighting total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Manik top scored with 33 runs, while Shiva and Kaka contributed 20 and 12 runs respectively. Shera and Rahul took 2 wickets each for Dev Cricket Club. Kavi scored a power-packed ton (101*) off 51 balls, with the help of 15 delectable fours and 4 sixes, while Rahul contributed 16 runs to the total. Karan and Deepak took 2 wickets each for Bhawani Cricket Club.For his magnificent century, Kavi was declared as man of the match.
