RAMBAN, Mar 24: Jawahar Tunnel police arrested a driver along with 57 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jawahar Tunnel police post laid a naka and intercepted a Jammu bound Xylo car bearing registration number JK01U-1711.
During checking, police recovered 57.300 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Adil Ahmed Sofi, son of Abdul Rehman Sofi of District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 35/16 under Section 8/21 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest was made by Incharge Jawahar Tunnel police post SI Mohammad Irfan Wani under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar, SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
