CWDC president submits memo to Governor

JAMMU, Mar 26: President, Citizens Welfare and Development Council (CWDC), Jammu Province, RK Sharma, today submitted a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra through his Principal/Secretary urging him to give accord to the project report of PDD for improving power scenario in Miran Sahib area.
Through memorandum, Sharma said that the locals of Miran Sahib and its adjoining  areas have been suffering for past 30 years due to lack of proper power supply, as the area is being fed by existing 6.3 MVA Transformer, which did not cater the needs of vast population of Miran Sahib and its adjoining areas including commercial areas.
Sharma said that he approached many times to the higher authorities in this concern and even on their directions a project report was prepared and submitted to them by the PDD in August 2013 for an estimated cost of Rs 159.71 lakh, which could not mature.
“Again a fresh project report for augmentation of 33/11 KV receiving station Miran Sahib from 2×6.3 MVA to 2x 20 MVA was forwarded by PDD Chief Engineer on July 2014 for an amount of Rs 179.53 lakh for administrative approval and allotment of funds, but the project was returned by the authorities to the Chief Engineer for unknown reasons”, he said, adding another project report in this connection was prepared and submitted for grant of techno Economic clearance for an amount of Rs 298.47 lakh on September 2015 by the then Chief Engineer but the finalization of the project is still pending.
The CWDC president urged Governor NN Vohra to give accord to the project and ensure release of necessary funds for the same in the interest of the common people.
