Intake capacity of B Sc Agriculture in SKUAST-J to be increased to 120

JAMMU, Mar 29: The 16th meeting of Academic Council of SKUAST-Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Prof  Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor of  the university and accorded its nod to various agenda items.
In the meeting, it was decided that 86 Undergraduate, 112 Post-graduate and 12 Doctorate degrees will be conferred to the pass out students in the 5th Convocation of this University,  scheduled to be held on 18th April, 2016. Besides this, 42 certificates of merit to Post-graduate and Doctorate and Gold medals will also be awarded in the Convocation. It was also decided that the intake capacity of B Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, be increased from 70 to 120 seats from academic session 2016-17. Many other agenda related to Academics were also discussed and deliberated in the meeting.
During the meeting,  the  Vice Chancellor informed that the university has renewed the activity of the placement cell by strengthening its activities and initiated the various personality development modules, industry interactions and lectures for the capacity building of the students. He emphasized that for better training of the students and development of potential human resource, the university has restructured the faculties and research centres. The creation of Faculty of Basic Sciences, Advance Centre for Rainfed Agriculture, Dhainsar and Horticulture Research Centre at Udheywalla are the glaring examples. These facilities will help the students in longer way to compete at the national and global levels, he added.
The other officials,  present in the meeting,  were;  Dr  T A S  Ganai, Director Education;  Dr  Shafiq Ahmed Wani, Expert member from SKUAST-K;  Dr  Deepak Kher, PP&MO;  Dr V K Razdan, University Librarian;  Dr  M M S  Zama, Dean, F V Sc  & A H  and Dr  R K  Gupta, Dean, F B Sc and all the Heads of the Divisions of Faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Basic Science.
Earlier,  Dr  Dileep Kachroo, Registrar, SKUAST-J and Member Secretary of the Academic Council ,  presented the agenda for deliberation.
