JAMMU, Mar 31: Two days long 21st Men and 7th Women J&K State Wrestling Championship, which had begun yesterday, concluded at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here today.
The Championship was organized by J&K Wrestling Association under the aegis J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
200 wrestlers from different districts of J&K including Poonch, Reasi, Doda, Rajouri, Udhampur, Srinagar, Ganderbal and JKP took part in the Championship.
In the Closing Ceremony, Pardeep Sharma, president, Bajrangi Akahara, Shalamar was the chief guest, while prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Dushyant Sharma, former president Wrestling Federation of India, Vikas Gupta, Raju Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Nirdosh Sharma and Manish Chatwal.
The bouts were officiated by Kulbir Singh, Govind Singh, Ravi Sharma and Gourav Sharma. Ajay Vaid was the organizing secretary of the Championship.
In a tough competition, wrestlers who emerged winners included Lal Hussain (JKP), Tirath Singh (Udh) and Abhik Singh (Jmu) in (57 KG).
In 61 KG, Ashwani Kumar (Jmu), Ajay Bharti (JKP) and Raman Singh (Jmu) bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 65 KG, Bushan Mehra (Jmu), Sahil Sharma (Jmu) and Ali Khan (Jmu) won the gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 70 KG, Munir Ali (Jmu), Surinder Singh (Jmu) and Pawan Kumar (Jmu) won gold, silver and bronze resepctively, while in 74 KG, Rajesh (JKP),. Ranjit Singh (JKP) and Surinder Singh (Jmu) clinched gold, silver and bronze medals.
In 86 KG Nisar JKP, Bhadur Khan Jmu and Liyakat Ali; 97 KG ; Roshan Sharma JKP, Ishaq Bhat JKP and Shubam Singh JKP and in 125 KG, 1 Ishaq Ahmed Jmu, Daler Khan JKP and Varun Sharma Jmu clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
