Protest after theft in temple

JAMMU, Apr 3: Protest sparked after theft in a temple in the Rehari area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, some unidentified persons barged into a temple in Rehari area and decamped with silver ornaments of the idols and some cash by breaking the donation box.
It is very astonishing that the thieves barged into the temple, which is located just few meters from a police post and the cops in the area were unaware of it.
After witnessing the theft in the morning, the priest of the temple reported the matter to police.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Bakshi Nagar police station and manhunt launched to nab the thieves.
Meanwhile, large number of residents residing near the temple assembled at police post Sarwal and held protest. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
Later, senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors assuring them that the thieves will be arrested soon.
