SRINAGAR: World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall while plains, including summer capital, Srinagar , were lashed by rain, disrupting normal life.
However, the minimum temperature remained above normal in the valley, where majority roads are damaged, badly affecting pedestrian and traffic movement.
A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that there could be isolated rain in the Kashmir valley and Jammu division during the next 24 hours while weather will remain dry in Ladakh.
However, there is possibility of dry weather in the state on April 6 before wet weather during subsequent two days in the valley, he said. Gulmarg, the famed ski resort in north Kashmir received few inches of fresh snowfall early this morning.
However, moderate snowfall was experienced at upper heights, including Khilanmarg, Kongdori and Affarwat, the highest skiing point, a hotel owner said over phone.
Large number of tourists, including foreigners, are arriving there daily to enjoy skiing and other adventure sports on the slopes, which are under several feet of snow.
Due to fresh snowfall the minimum temperature recorded a drop at Gulmarg though it was still above normal. Against yesterdays 2.8 degree, the minimum temperature there was 1 degree, which was a notch above normal. The maximum temperature was slightly below normal yesterday.
It was raining at Pahalgam, a famed health resort in south Kashmir where the minimum temperature remained above normal though the maximum temperature yesterday was two degree below normal.(Agencies)
