SRINAGAR, Apr 4: J&K Bank defeated UKFC Darjeeling in the semifinal match by two goals to nil and reached into the finals of 5th All India Football Tournament for “Bihar cup” 2016, at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh Patna.
The Bank dominated the field right from the beginning and created a good number of chances but could not capitalize on them. The first half ended with 0-0.
It was only in the 59th minute of the game, the bank’s winger Jamsheed Ahmed dribbled and beat three Darjeeling defence players on right flank and put in a fine cross that found the striker Prem Kumar who made no mistake to net the ball.
Thereafter, in the 70th minute, Shiekh Rizwan got a pass from Adnan and scored the second goal and doubled the lead for the Bank. The match ended with 2-0 with J&K Bank comfortably making their way in to the final.
The bank will play the final match of the tournament on April 5, wherein Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would be the chief guest.
Meanwhile, the Bank team has of late transformed its senior team into a very youthful team, restricting the engagement of foreign and outside State players. The current team comprises of local players who are proving their mettle at national level as well.
