JAMMU, Apr 5: All-rounder Abid Nabi helped Murtaza Warriors to thrash Nagrota Young Star by 8 wickets, while Singh Cricket Club defeated Super XI by 8 wickets in a low scoring game in the ongoing Jammu & Kashmir Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Sports Club at GGM Science College, here.
In the first match, Murtaza Warriors crushed Nagrota Young Star by 8 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Nagrota Young Star scored a modest total of 106 runs in 18.3 overs. Niju scored 50 runs, while Irshad and Lucky contributed 15 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For Murtaza Warriors, Omar Alam took 3 wickets, while Abid Nabi and Aamir Sofi claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Murtaza Warriors, rode on a brisk knock of unbeaten 45 runs by Abid Nabi to chase the target in 10.5 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Aamir Sofi contributed unbeaten 31 runs, while Ishtiaq Rasool chipped in with 19 runs. Rajender and Madan took one wicket each for Nagrota Young Star. Abid Nabi was declared as man of the match for his brilliant all-round show.
In another match, Singh CC defeated Super XI by 8 wicket. Batting first, Super XI collapsed at a paltry toal of 48 runs in 12.1 overs. Jakie and Ponkush chipped in with 10 and 9 runs respectively. Happy was the pick of the bowlers for Singh Cricket Club, who scalped 4 important wickets, while Rahul bagged 3 wickets. Lablu, Pardeep and Ankush claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Singh Club scored the required runs in 5.1 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Happy (16) and Rinka (9) were the main scorers. Saleem took 2 wickets for Super XI. Happy was declared as man of the match.
