Lawyers Annual Sports Meet gets underway

JAMMU, Apr 8: Lawyers Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by MLA Jammu East and president BJP J&K, Sat Sharma in presence of senior advocates-UK Jalali, AV Gupta, Sunil Sethi, and BS Slathia at University grounds, here today.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were advocates Raghu Mehta, Y.E. Tak, C.M. Sharma, S Rupinder Singh, Suresh C. Sharma, Romesh Arora, Ajay Singh Manhas, Ravi Dogra and Bawa Ditta amongst others.
The first match was played between Legal Star XI and Striking XI, in which Legal Star XI after winning the toss chose to bat first, scored 123 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Pranav Kohli was the highest scorer with 45 runs, whereas Mohd Sami scored 27 and Surinder contributed 24 runs. Raj Thakur and Rajesh Bhushan took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Striking XI were bundled out for 87 runs. Nikhil Gupta was the highest scorer with 33 runs. For the Legal Star XI, AP Singh took 3 wickets, while Parvesh Salaria took 2 wickets. Sanjay and Amit claimed 1 wicket each.
The second match was played between Clan Kings XI and Great Warriors, in which Great Warriors after winning the toss batting first, scored 114 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Dinesh Sharma was the top scorer with 29 runs, while Rahul Sharma scored 27 and Sahil chipped in with 20 runs. Manik took 4 wickets and Gagan Kohli bagged 3 wickets.
In reply, Clan Kings XI chased the target easily. Anil Verma was the highest scorer with 40 runs, whereas Sachin Sharma scored 26 and Gagan Kohli contributed 15 runs. For Great Warriors Sahil and Deepak took 1 wicket each.
The third match was played between Strikers XI and Avengers XI, in which Avengers XI after winning the toss batting first scored 110 runs in the allotted 12 overs. Mansoor was the to scorer with 19 runs, while Majid scored 17 runs. Avinay took 2 wickets and Nitin claimed one wicket. Chasing the target, Strikers XI scored 102 runs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs. Amulya was top scorer with 40 runs whereas Prathavi scored 12 runs. Azam took 2 wickets, while Rafakat and Mazer Ali took one wickets each.
