JAMMU, Apr 8: Puneet Kumar of Department of Mathematics (11.14) and Kajal of Department of Economics (7.53) bagged gold in men and women’s Shot Put events respectively on the second day of the ongoing three-day inter-department annual sports meet of Central University Jammu (CUJ), organised by Dean Students Welfare (DSW) at its Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony, here.
Second place in men’s Shot Put went to Kuldeep Tiwari (9.97), again of Department of Mathematics, while Arjun Singh (9.68) of TTM remained third. Similarly, in women’s section, Kajal of Department of Economics (7.53) bagged first place. Smarty of Department of Mathematics (6.76) finished second while Heena Mughal of PPPA (6.70) remained third.
Meanwhile, in women’s volleyball, Department of English qualified for the final beating Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) two sets to one. In men’s volleyball, Department of HRM defeated Department of Economics in straight but close sets of 25-18, 25-22.
In Table Tennis men’s singles event, Neeraj Dhiman of HRM (OB) outplayed Mayukh Ganguli of Department of NSS. The men’s doubles title went to the pair of Mohd Altaf and Narinder of Department of Economics, who beat the duo of Neeraj Dhiman and Ankush Verma (HRM).
Similarly, in women’s singles title clash, Poonam Sambyal of Department of Computer Sciences and IT trounced Qudsia Khattak of Department of English. The doubles title won by the duo Alisha and Surbhi of Department of HRM (OB) after they defeated Bharati and Poonam of Computer Sciences and IT.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor CUJ, Prof Ashok Aima interacted with the teams participating in today’s events and also witnessed the matches.
