JAMMU, Apr 9: Annual sports meet at Central University of Jammu concluded here on Saturday, in which teams of various departments participated.
On the final day of the meet, the students of various departments played basketball, volleyball and badminton.
The games were played at University’s temporary academic block at Sainik Colony.
In badminton women singles, Arushi from department of TTM outplayed Prabjot from Department of English whereas in Badminton women doubles, Prabjot and Safina from Department of English defeated Arushi and Krishma from department of TTM.
In badminton men single’s, Manish from department of NSS defeated Gijo Jose from department of MCNM, while in Badminton men doubles, Mayukh and Shashi Kant from Department of NSS drubbed Neeraj Dhiman and Nitish Manotra from Department of HRM.
In Basketball men’s final, played between department of HRM and TTM, department of HRM prevailed over TTM 8-4, while in Basketball women’s final played between department of English and EVS, department of English defeated the opponents by 15-4.
In Volleyball men’s final, played between HRM and TTM in which HRM clinched the title with 3-1 sets.
The final event of three day sports meet was graced by Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, CUJ. Prof Aima complimented the efforts of DSW and organizing team.
The sports meet was conducted under the supervision of the conveners Dr Pankaj Mehta, Dr. Neelika Arora, Dr. Govind Kumar Inakhiya, Dr. Kiran, Mr. Rahul Thakur, Dr. Anita Singh and Mohit Sharma. Dr. Pavinder Singh, Dean Student Welfare congratulated the organizing committee members for successful conduct of three day event and announced that prize distribution function will be organized at the end of academic session 2015-16.
