JAMMU, Apr 12: 3rd Abhishek Annual Sports Meet, which had commenced on April 1, 2016, concluded here today.
The Meet was inaugurated by Col Hari Singh, AO on April 1, while Er Vidhi S Singh, Chairman Tawi Group of Colleges presided over the concluding function as chief guest and awarded prizes to the winners of different sports events.
The Sports Meet included Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletic events namely Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, Shot Put and 100 Meters Sprint.
In his presidential address, the chief guest encouraged the participants for bettering their performance and also announced cash award of Rs 5000 for the winners and Rs 3000 for the runners-up teams/players.
In Cricket, Diploma 2nd Semester team won the final match and Hostel Warriors remained runners-up. Novel Singh was declared as man of the match, Kamal Singh as best batsman and Aatish Bhagat as best bowler.
In Volleyball, Mechanical Department won the final match and Civil Department remained runners-up. Nitin Kumar won gold medal in Shot Put, Divanshu claimed gold medal in Discus Throw, Kulwant Kumar bagged gold in Javelin Throw, Munish Kumar clinched gold in 100 Meters Sprint, Talvinder Singh won gold in Table Tennis and Kajal claimed gold medal in Badminton.
In women section Abhishek Hostel team won the final match and Tawi Wariors were declared runners-up. Megha was declared woman of the match.
In the successful organization of the Sports Meet, Anuj Tidyal (Member Secretary), Amandeep Singh and Rahul Kalia played a vital role under the guidance of Prof BR Moza, Convener Sports Committee.
