JAMMU, Apr 19: Three persons were killed while three others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police sources, a youth identified as Vikas son of Daya Ratan, a resident of Raja Bazar, Akhnoor, was killed on the spot when the bike bearing registration number JK02AU-3801 which he was riding towards Akhnoor, was hit by an unknown vehicle near Sua No 1 falling within the jurisdiction of police station Kanachak, early this morning. Sources said after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
“Another road accident occurred this afternoon at Batehra, where a scooty bearing registration number JK02BK-3168 was hit by an unknown vehicle. In the mishap, both the rider and the pillion rider received serious injuries and were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where they were declared as brought dead by the doctors”, sources said, adding, the deceased have been identified as Shiva son of Labba, a resident of Punjab and Jittu, a resident of Orissa.
Both were labourers and were presently living in Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar in Jammu, they said and added that bodies of both were shifted to GMCH for post mortem.
At Last Morh, Gandhi Nagar, a pedestrian identified as Ajeet Singh (66) son of Chanda Singh, a resident of Simbal, suffered serious injuries when while crossing the road a motorcycle hit him. He was shifted to GMCH for treatment.
Meanwhile, two pedestrians identified as Ravinder (20) son of Faju Ram and Puneet (21) son of Tarseem Lal, both residents of Sungal, got injured when a scooty hit them at Sungal Morh in Akhnoor Tehsil. Both the injured were rushed to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, from where they were later referred to GMCH Jammu.
In all four cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
