‘Fire Services Week’ concludes

JAMMU, Apr 20: On the concluding day of ‘Fire Services Week’, an essay competition on the theme ‘Prevent Fire Accident’ was held today at Jammu headquarters of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) while a prize distribution function was organized at Salal Power Station.
Abour 34 students from eight schools participated in the essay competition organized at F&ES headquarters, in which Sonal Raina and Ayushi Koul of St Xavier Convent Higher Secondary School secured 1st and 3rd positions, respectively while 2nd position was bagged by Sharmila Thakur from Cambridge Public High School, Paloura.
The winners were awarded by chief guest, Er RS Sodhi, DG, F&ES, who while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the role of jawans and officers for making Fire Services Week successful and result oriented.
At Salal Power Station, the ‘Fire Prevention Week’ concluded today with prize distribution function. AG Ansari, General Manager, Salal Power Station, was the chief guest, who distributed the prizes among the winners of the painting competitions among the school children of various schools.
Among others, Sri Prakash, Chief Engineer (Civil), AZ Geelani, Chief Engineer (Elect), senior officers from NHPC Limited, Principals and teachers from KV Jyotipuram, Government Middle School Bidda and school children were present on the occasion.
During the observance of Fire Prevention Week, a number of activities were taken up like observance of ‘Martyr’s Day’ on April 14, awareness programs on fire prevention, painting competition, demonstration/lectures on prevention of fire and above all a mock drill by Firemen of the Power Station. The function concluded by honouring the Firemen of the Power Station.
