JAMMU, Apr 21: Inter School District level competition in the sports disciplines of Taekwondo, Wushu, Kick Boxing, Boxing, Thang-Tha, Slumbum and Sqay Martial Arts Boys Under-14 and Under-17 got underway here at Indoor Hall, M.A , Stadium and at Shastri Memorial HSS, Subash Nagar, here.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu in a simple and well attended function at Indoor Complex MA Stadium.
While addressing Mr Madan Lal said that the main objective of these competitions is to explore the talent at grass-root level.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as a part of annual calendar of sports activities for the year 2016-17 under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu.
In Taekwondo U/14 Boys -21 kg, Rudhra Partap of Sprawling Buds 1st and Rashid Hussain of GMS Sitni Bye Pass 2nd; -25 kg Prayanshu Gupta of BSF Paloura 1st and Ashish Sagotra of KV-2 2nd; -27 kg, Sadiq Hussain GMS Sitni Bye Pass,1st and Suryavansh of St. Fransis HSS 2nd.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Pal Gill, Kamal Singh and Arun.
