JAMMU,  Apr 22: A deputation of Diploma Engineers Association met the Minister for PWD (R&B), Abdul Rehman Veeri  and apprised him of the issues of the diploma engineers.
Led by president of the Association Upinder Singh, the members of the delegation met the minister at his official residence here and submitted a memorandum, containing demands of the diploma engineers.  While discussing about the points raised in the memorandum, Mr Singh said that diploma engineers were facing stagnation at various stages. There is very less chance of their advancement/ promotion as they are not being provided their fixed quota by the people at the helm of affairs. In many cases the JEs are retiring  on the same post even after rendering over 30 years of service.
The members urged upon the minister to evolve a mechanism where by every diploma engineer should get at least two promotions for which Punjab pattern be adopted in the J&K State.  They also demanded maintenance of cadre strength at every level that is JE to AE, AE to AEE  and AEE to Executive Engineer, restoration of entry level grade of Rs 5000-8000 to Rs 6500-10,700 and enhancement of travelling allowance from Rs 30 per month to Rs 5000 per month.
The minister  gave them a patient hearing  and assured  the cadre  that their pending demands shall be taken to its logical conclusion.
Prominent among others who accompanied Narinder Singh, Anil Gupta, Vimal Gupta, Ram Lal, Ishfaq Wani  and Sanjay Trisal.
