Be ready for bye-election as and when EC takes decision: PDP

SRINAGAR, Apr 23: Dismi-ssing National Conference allegations, People’s Democratic Party senior functionaries today made it clear that the party was ready for bye-election as and when a decision to this effect is taken by the Election Commission.
This was observed during meeting of PDP office bearers, held here today at the party headquarters, under the chairmanship of general secretary Mohammad Sartaj Madni. Party Coordinators, district presidents from Valley and Youth president Waheed ur Rehman participated in the meeting.
Party general secretary, Nizamudin Bhat, in his inaugural address, threw light on party functioning and objectives set by the party president Mehbooba Mufti. He said that PDP has been a movement with an explicit ideology and the party will tirelessly work to have that those ideas implemented which have been set by the visionary leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and which alone can sustain the reputation of PDP as a viable and effective political plateform in J&K State.
Mohammad Sartaj Madni, in his maiden meeting after becoming general secretary, took over stock of party affairs and the political situation here.
The district presidents, who include two MPs, two MLCs and MLA besides some senior leaders gave necessary inputs on functioning of the party and unanimously hailed the new party setup that has come up after fresh restructuring by the party president and consequent upon which Madni himself has been appointed as party general secretary besides Nizamudin Bhat and Mehboob Iqbal.
The party office bearers were told to complete membership drive at the earliest and reach out to masses through registered card holders in tune with the people friendly tradition of the party. It was also decided that any decisions taken by the Government in respect of development, peace and political resolution of issues should be endorsed and supported by the basic cadre through possible awareness.
Those who attended the meeting, included Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mufti Sajjad Hussain, Raja Aijaz Ali Khan, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Nazir Ahmad Laway (MP) , Fayaz Ahmad Mir (MP), Advocate Mohammad Yousuf , Yasir Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Mir, Advocate Ab Gani Dar, Javaid Ahmad and Ab Hameed Kosheen.
