JAMMU, Apr 23: Workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a protest against the Hurriyat and Pakistani leaders going over board to paint the Indian Army in bad light.
The workers of Dogra Front burnt the effigies of the Hurriyat leaders accusing them of trying to implicate the Army personnel and trigger local protests. “It was first alleged that the girl was molested by an Army Personnel but later on the girl testified before the Chief Judicial Magistrate that she was assaulted by two local boys and not the army personnel. The Hurriyat leaders had conducted this whole exercise to paint the Army in a poor light and they are also ensuring that Handwara protests spread to other parts to directly impact the stability”, Gupta said while addressing the protesting workers.
He said these are the same security forces which helped the people of Kashmir from the clutches of death during the time of floods. “They provided the necessary food, shelter and rescued the people at the time emergency. They acted as humanitarian and their efforts were deeply appreciated by the people of Kashmir. So what happened now?”, he added.
Gupta alleged that the whole Handwara incident was the efforts of Kashmiri civil society to ride on the rumours of Army Personnel’s molestation case to demand the removal of AFSPA (armed forces special power act) and the dismantling of army bunkers.
