JAMMU, Apr 24: To promote local sporting talent, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Sohanda under Delta Force organized Sohanda Volleyball Competition 2016-17, today.
The tournament was played between eight teams representing eleven villages from Doda Tehsil.
The final was witnessed by approximately 250 people including officials from civil administration and village Sarpanches.
After a competitive and a hard fought match, the team from village Buha managed to beat their spirited opponents in three sets.
At the conclusion of the tournament deserving players were awarded individual prizes and medals in appreciation of their skill and enthusiasm shown. The response and participation shown by locals for the tournament shows the high spirit of bonhomie and camaraderie existing between the security forces and people of the region. They appreciated the sincere efforts put in by the Indian Army to involve the youth of the region in mainstream activities and requested Army to organizes more such popular sporting events.
