SAMBA, May 3: It was pure nostalgia when Radio Kashmir Jammu organized a Dogri Kavi Gosthi in fond memory of Dogri poet Charan Singh at his native Village Baghuna in Rajinder Pura.
Prof Lalit Magotra read a well researched paper on the life of the poet who achieved great literary heights in a short span of only 28 years. The event was attended by a large number of prominent citizens of the place and organised in a historic set up of Brigadier Rajinder Singh Park, another hero of the area, who is lauded as the Saviour of Kashmir.
The paper reading session was followed by the Kavi Gosthi in which eleven poets of various genres mesmerized the audience with the skilful rendering of their choicest poems. The event lasted for almost two hours and the arena kept on swelling with more and more public by every passing minutes. Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu VK Sambyal informed the gathering that the station has embarked upon the ambitious plan of honouring great sons of the soil at their native place in order to take our past to the future generations.
The poets who participated in the programme included, Dr Usha Vyas, Promila Manhas, Sunita Badwal, Rajinder Singh Raipuria, Bishan Singh Dardi, Vijay Sharma, Sita Ram Sapolia, Gyaneshwar Singh, and Sanjay Vidrohi. Mohan Singh conducted the proceedings of the Gosthi.
