Manufacturing unit penalized for violating labeling norms

Srinagar, May 9: Legal Metrology Department today raided a Punjab-based manufacturing unit wherein electrical appliances were found with smudged  labeling here in downtown area of city.
A spokesperson of Legal Metrology Department said prompted by public complaints that the electrical switches (combined sockets/switches) manufactured by a reputed company, Ess Ess Kay Punjab, carry the smudged rate tags.
“The complaint was found genuine and the challan case was made out against the company and the whole sale dealer for the lapse by the Legal Metrology Officer Shabir Ahmad,” he said.
Later, the accused company officials visited the Legal Metrology Department and explained that they had not smudged the manufacturing prices but has used old labels with old prices written on it due to lack of resources and they have updated  manually.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Controller slapped a fine of Rs 30,000 on the company for the violation.
