SRINAGAR, May 13: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today reiterated the Government’s resolve to ensure adequate and uninterrupted power supply to the people. He said steps are underway to upgrade and augment the existing infrastructure in the power sector.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss upgradation of transmission network in the State.
Chief Managing Director, Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI), I S Jha, Executive Directors of the Corporation and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers of PGCI to ensure speedy completion of the new transmission lines so that the power supply can be augmented by importing more energy and ensuring its proper distribution. He said PGCI should hold regular meetings with the officers of the PDD so that various works taken up by the Corporation are completed within the stipulated time-frame.
Dr Singh also called for speeding up work on 220 KV transmission network from Samba to New Wanpoh, 400/220 KV sub-stations, 220 KV transmission line between Aulesteng (Srinagar) to Leh, 400 KV Kishanpur- Wanpoh transmission line, 400 KV Kishanpur-Dul Hasti transmission line, 220 KV Multi Circuit Kishanganga-Amargarh and 220 KV Amargarh-Wagoora transmission lines. He said with the completion of this transmission network electricity would be augmented in a proper and coordinated manner.
The Deputy Chief Minister also called for augmentation of transformation capacity at Samba grid station besides exploring the possibility of having separate transmission line from Samba to Bishnah. He also called for speeding up work of LILO of Gladni-Hiranagar Single Circuit at Samba Grid Station.
