Aryan Mahajan brings laurels to J&K, wins U-18 Champion for Juniors title

JAMMU, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis player Aryan Mahajan again made the State proud by becoming Champion for Juniors in under-18 category during 2016 Pittsburgh Steel City Open, held at Penn Hills High School Gym, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mahajan defeated everyone in the group by the score of 3-0. He defeated Logan Herman in final and registered win by 3-0. Earlier in the semis, he defeated Parth Nagpure by 3-0.
In U-1600 event, Aryan secured runner-up position by losing to Ryan Robinsonin. Earlier, in the semis, Mahajan defeated Debabrata Ghosh. In quarterfinal, he defeated Sarveen Khatami by 3-1 and in pre-quarter final match Mahajan defeated Robert Niklewicz by 3-1.
In the U-1800 quarter finals, Mahajan lost to Joe Ciarrochi by 3-2.
Mahajan participated in other tournaments this year including $3000 Newgy Ohio Open Table Tennis Tournament where he won U-1600 and was runners up for U-1700. In 2016 Millcreek Giant Table Tennis Tournament, he won Division 5L and was runners up for U-1600 also in the Arnold Table Tennis Challenge in Columbus (OH),  he proved his mettle by winning the U-1400 Tiered title. Moreover, Aryan played in Aurora Cup in Chicago (IL) and ended up reaching quarterfinals.
Mahajan has been training extensively with Ohio’s top player and mentor Samson Dubina.
