JAMMU, May 17: Sidhar Cricket Club (SCC) registered win over Badyal-Qazuan Cricket Club in the inaugural tie of the Night Cricket Tournament (Summer Cup) at Satrayan.
Batting first, Badal-Qazian Cricket Club made 89 runs in 12 overs, which the opponent Sidhar Cricket Club chased down and sailed into the next stage of the tournament.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Senior Congress leader and former Minister RS Chib, who was the chief guest on the occasion. SHO RS Pura, Inspector Bhushan Manhas was the guest of honour.
While speaking, Chib stressed upon the youth to take part in sports activities to achieve overall development of their personality and to face the challenges of their future lives.
The tournament is being organized by Pawan Singh Billa and Sunny Singh.
Among others present were Sarpanch Man Singh, Roshan Singh, Raghunath Singh, Kasturi Singh, Headmaster Joginder Singh, Balbir Singh, Jagattar Singh, Bittoo and Jeet Singh.
The tournament will be played for 45 days and is an annual feature organized by Satrayan Youth Club. More than 60 teams are likely to participate in this event.
The aim of the tournament is to involve rural youth in sports activities and develop their constructive approach in their future lives.
