3 -day religious function begins at Mahaganesh Temple

JAMMU, May 19: The three -day long religious function in connection with Ganesh Chaturdashi at Shri Mahaganesh Temple at Ganesh Vihar Lower Muthi here started with Bhoomi Poojan this evening.
A large number of devotees thronged the Ashram in the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony which was performed by religious scholars. It will be followed by Kalash Pooja and hawan tomorrow. The three day religious function will culminate with Puranahuti on May 21 and serving of Prashd to devotees.
The function has been organized by Shri Mahaganesh Charitable Trust. The temple is replica of Mahaganesh Temple of Hanand Chawalgam in South Kashmir district of Kulgam where ancient Ganesh shrine exists.
“The Trust besides the construction of grand temple has constructed Gouri Bhawan with two halls of 4000 sq metres each for performance of religious functions said”, Prof O N Kaul secretary of the Trust.
While talking to media persons at the sidelines of the function this evening, he said Trust is also working in social field and the Gauri Bhawan was constructed at the cost of Rs 40 lakh.
Prof Kaul said that the two halls of Gauri Bhawan will be utilized for social and religious functions by the community and the money received thus, will be spent for community cause.
