Tehsildar, others booked in fraudulent mutation of land

JAMMU, May 31: Crime Branch Jammu has booked a Tehsildar and other persons for their involvement in fraudulent mutation of land.
According to the Crime Branch case, Janak Singh, the then Patwari and Subash Singh Chib, the then Tehsildar Jammu in order to confer pecuniary benefits upon themselves hatched a criminal conspiracy with accused Baldev Raj, son of Ami Chand of Gole Talab Tillo and Sucha Singh, son of Sarwan Singh of Bhawani Nagar.
In furtherance of the criminal conspiracy, they got fraudulently mutated 2 kanal of land of Lehna Singh and Teja Singh in favour of accused Baldev Raj on the basis of non-existent sale deeds in sheer abuse of their official positions.
According to the FIR, a written complaint was received in the Crime Branch from the court of Sub-Judge Special Excise Magistrate wherein the complainant had alleged that he is owner in possession of land measuring one kanal falling in Khasra No. 164 min situated in Nawabad, which he had purchased from Lehna Singh and had appointed his brother namely Sarwan Singh as the caretaker.
However, Sarwan Singh in connivance with his son Sucha Singh got the name of Sarwan Singh recorded in the Khasra Girdawari, in respect of the land, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy and connivance with accused Revenue Department officials despite the fact that both Sarwan Singh and his son Sucha Singh were neither the owners nor had any revenue record in their name.
Acting on the complaint, Crime Branch has registered a case against Baldev Raj, Sucha Singh, Janak Singh, the then Patwari Halqa Nawabad (now retired) and Subash Singh Chib, the then Tehsildar, Jammu under Sections 420,465,467,468,471,120-B RPC read with Section 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act.
