NEW DELHI, June 2: The grievance disposal rate during the week ending May 29 was 99% wherein 22633 out of 22880 complaints were satisfactorily redressed during the five working days of the week.
This was disclosed here today by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh while awarding certificates of appreciation to the Government of India Ministries and Departments with highest grievance disposal rate. He said, this felicitation is aimed at providing greater motivation towards redressal of public grievances and also for introducing a sense of competitiveness among officers belonging to different Ministries/ Depart-ments in the Government of India.
The Ministries awarded today in different categories for grievance disposal included Union Ministry of Rural Development – Department of Land Resources, Union Ministry of Home Affairs – Department of Official Languages, Ministry of Skill Development, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution – Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Finance – Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Human Resources Develop-ment – Department of School Education.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, ever since the Modi Government took two years back, the grievance disposal rate in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (ARPG) has never been less than 80 to 85% in any given week and maximum up to 99%. Not only this, he said, before this Government took over, the average number of grievances registered per year was only about 2 lakh which has now gone up to 9 lakh. This, he said, is because of the prompt and satisfactory disposal by the Department of ARPG which has encouraged people to come forward in larger numbers to seek redressal for their complaints.
In the last few months, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Department has started a new process of individually calling up complainants, at random, to verify their level of satisfaction over the redressal of their grievances and also to receive their feedback. He said, he would like to clarify that those of the complaints which remain un-redressed are the ones which cannot be resolved on account of certain technical or other factors. Dr Jitendra Singh said, the PG Portal for lodging the complaints online is very active and now this facility is also available on mobile app.
Among other those present on the occasion were Union Secretary ARPG, C. Visw-anath, Additional Secretary Usha Sharma and other senior officers.
