JAMMU, June 2: Inter School and Zonal Level Competitions, organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports held at different venues.
JAMMU: Inter School District Level Competitions in the disciplines of Badminton and Chess for Under-14 and 17 boys held at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium.
In Under-17 Badminton, Heritage School will lock horns with APS Domana tomorrow.
In Under-14 Chess, Soham of DPS beat Superb Jain of DPS and lifted the title, whereas in Under-17 final, Akashdeep of KC International registered win over Navdeep Singh of DPS.
UDHAMPUR: District Level Inter Zonal Tournament for under-14 and 17 boys in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling and Kho-Kho concluded.
In Under-14 Volleyball, Ramnagar defeated Udhampur by straight 2 sets.
In under-14 Kabaddi, Udhampur smashed Ghordi by 6 points and in under-17 category, Panchari defeated Babey.
In under-14 Kho-Kho, Chenani crushed Jib by 6-4 and in under-17 category, Chenani defeated Udhampur by 4 points.
In under-14 Wrestling, Rahul Singh of Chenani bagged first position, while Mohammad Rashid of Udhampur remained runner-up in below 30 kg category, whereas in below 35 Kg category, Sunny Singh of Ramnagar defeated Jeevan Singh of Chenani and emerged winner, in below 40 Kg, Mohinder Singh of Babey secured first position, while Zakir Hussain of Ramnagar bagged runner-up position, in below 45 Kg, Rahul Verma of Ghordi and Akhil of Udhampur bagged winner and runner-up positions respectively.
In under-17 Wrestling, Mohinder Kumar of Majalta emerged winner, while Viku of Chenani remained runner-up in below-40 kg, whereas in below 45 Kg, Rajinder Singh of Ghordi and Ramesh Kumar of Panchari secured winner and runner-up positions respectively, in below 55 Kg, Ashwani of Majalta emerged winner and Shubham Singh of Ramnagar secured runner-up position and in below 60 Kg, Baldev Raj of Kulwanta and Raghu of Ghordi claimed winner and runner-up positions respectively.
SAMBA: Inter Zone District Level under-14 and under-17 Girls Athletic Meet was held at Arazi Stadium Samba. Deputy Commissioner Sheetal Nanda was the chief guest on the occasion. About 57girls from five zones of Samba participated in the various events including discus throw, high jump, triple jump, javelin throw, long jump, shot-put and races, held in under -17 and under- 14 categories. DC Samba while presenting awards to the winners directed DYSSO Samba to explore possibilities for providing better training and facilities to the players.
