Sir,
The other day a news appeared that Cabinet Sub Committee has recommended the creation of eight posts of Joint Director in School Education Department for KAS Officers. Previously, the Govt had already withdrawn the privilege of the teachers to elect the experienced and all round teacher as their representative to the J&K Legislative Council as MLC. Then why to do injustice with the teaching community having a long rich and healthy experience and can deliver better guidance and solutions to the problems cropping up in the field. Teaching is considered as the most respectable and sacred profession and teachers as builders of the nation and even the mirror of the nation. He/she is selected and made for teaching. Here the pertinent question arises for consideration :- What assignment will be given to the KAS Officers since they being non concern persons with little knowledge and experience about the department. They will remain busy in official papers and making transfers etc. The Govt has taken discouraging steps which is disgracing the teaching community. In many other departments, eligible officers are being promoted to top post and even inducted into KAS cadre. Now, it is need of the hour and even high time that Govt should consider creating of new cadre say Kashmir Education Service where in principals of higher secondary schools be allowed to compete for Chief Education Officer and other higher posts.
Yours etc…
