Weather again turns pleasant in Kashmir due to cloudy sky, winds

SRINAGAR: After recording hot weather due to above normal mercury during the past few days, weather finally turned pleasant again in the Kashmir valley, where sky turned cloudy in the afternoon after bright sunshine in the morning.
A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that light rain or thundershowers would occur in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
There could be isolated rain in central Kashmir district of Badgam, Kupwara and Baramulla in north and Anantnag and Shopian in south today. After witnessing above normal minimum temperature, people woke up to yet another sunny morning in the Valley. However, as the day progressed the sky become cloudy due to which the weather turned pleasant.
Since today is the last Sunday before the start of Holy month of Ramdhan, all tourist resorts, including famed Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Yusmarg, Desksum, Achabal, and Kokernag are flooded with outside and local tourists.
Large number of tourists are also visting Mughal gardens on the bank of world famous Dal Lake, including Nishat, Shalimar, Harwan, Cheshmashahi and Parimahal.
During the past two days people used fans, coolers and air-conditioners in the valley because of above normal mercury due to bright sunshine. The maximum temperature was one to five degrees above normal in the Valley yesterday, while the minimum temperature was two to three notches above normal.
The summer capital recorded 30.7 degrees celsius maximum temperature, which was five notches above normal while the minimum temperature was 14.2 degrees, over a notch above normal.
The spokesman said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 32 degrees and 15 degrees respectively in the city during the next 24 hours. (AGENCIES)
