ANANTNAG, June 5: On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law, Abdul Haq today visited the residence of slain police Constable Riyaz Ahmad at Uttersoo, Shangus to offer personal condolences to the bereaved family.
He was accompanied by former Legislator, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain.
Constable Riyaz Ahmad was killed in a militant attack at Anantnag on Saturday.
The Minister while extending personal condolences to the family members of Riyaz Ahmad said the Chief Minister equally shares the grief of the family. He assured bereaved family of every help from the Government.
Expressing grief and sorrow over the dastardly incident, the Minister said that culprits would be nabbed and punished. Describing the incident an act of cowardice, he said Islam does not allow such heinous acts.
Later, the Minister offered Fateah and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
