*Bhalla asks youth to bring laurels to State

JAMMU, June 11: In the State’s biggest Body Building Championship, which concluded at Police Auditorium here today with much fanfare, Deepak Sharma was adjudged as Mr J&K. He lifted Champion of Champions trophy in a keenly contested competition.
This was the 12th Men’s Sports Physique Championship held in a row under the aegis of Body Building Association, J&K (BBAJK). This year’s theme was ‘Say no to drugs, Stay healthy’. Being a State-level event, it attracts bodybuilders from all districts of the state who take part in this prestigious contest for the ultimate Mr J&K title.
With Deepak Sharma winning the competition today, he has become the best bodybuilder of J&K. Sunil Sharma was adjudged as first runner-up and Paramveer Singh the third runner-up. They were given the prize money of Rs 11,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
The body builders participated in the following nine weight categories: 50-55, 55-60, 60-65, 65-70, 70-75, 75-80, 80-85, 85-90 and 90-95. The nine winners in these categories, who were given gold medals, competed for the prestigious title of Mr J&K.
Navneet Singh, International Judge, Dr Gunit, National Judge and Suresh Dutta, National Judge were judges on the occasion.
In the two categories of sports fitness models (one above 6 ft and the other below 6 ft), Sidhant Bali and Sidharth Sathoo were declared as winners respectively.
The today’s function, among others, was attended by BBAJK Chief Patron and Ex-Minister Raman Bhalla, Arjuna Awardee and Padam Shree Prem Chand Degra of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, general secretary Rajesh Dutta, Vice-Presidents Mahesh Sharma, B S Tirthi and Bharat Bhushan, secretary Naresh Gupta and Joint Secretary Nand Kishore Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla called upon the participants to work harder to bring laurels to the country in general and State in particular.
