SRINAGAR: The State Government today proposed a probe by a House Committee of the Legislative Council into the 2009 Mubarak Mandi fire incident.
The matter was raised during Question Hour when Minister for Youth Services and Sports Imran Ansari was replying to a question of Congress legislator Rani Gargi Blowria.
Ruling BJP and PDP legislators accused the then National Conference-Congress Government of hatching a conspiracy as regards the fire incident on February 9, 2009 at the heritage Mubarak Mandi complex which formerly served as the Secretariat of Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh.
These (Dogra rulers) are the leaders who gave us identity, the BJP legislators said, demanding an inquiry by a House Committee into the “sensitive” matter to “bring out the truth”.
It should also be ascertained if items from the Toshakhana (treasure house) were shifted before or after the incident, BJP legislator Ashok Khujuria said. (AGENCIES)
