Cueists Ankit, Kunal, Abhishek, Vipin, Jaideep, Ishuk stun rivals to sail into pre-quarterfinal stage

JAMMU, June 21: Cueists Ankit Gupta, Kunal Jamwal, Abhishek Goswami, Vipin Malhi, Abhishek Pathania, Jaideep Manocha and Ishuk Choudhary stunned rivals in their respective matches and sailed into the pre-quarterfinal stage of the ongoing Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
In the first match, Akhil Gupta smashed Ishan Khajuria by straight 3-0 frames. In the first frame, Akhil registered win over Sahil by 32-20 points, whereas in the second and third frames, Akhil outclassed Ishan by 33-02 and 44-28 points and registered berth in the pre-quarterfinal round of the tournament.
In the second match, Kunal Jamwal beat Hargun Sethi by 3-1 frames. Kunal emerged winner in the first frame by 43-11 points, whereas in the second frame, Kunal again registered win over Hargun by 34-32 points. In the third frame, Hargun made a comeback winning the frame by 39-16 points, but in the fourth frame, Hargun lost the game by 35-10 points and paved way to Kunal to enter into the pre-quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
In the third game, Abhishek Goswami crushed Kashif by 3-2 frames. In the first frame, Abhishek emerged winner by 36-11 points, whereas in the second frame, Kashif equalized the game by 25-12 points. In the third frame, Abhishek emerged winner by 36-06 points and in the fourth frame, Kashif again bounced back and equalized the game by 31-22 points. In the fifth and deciding frame, Abhishek and Kashif played well, but luck favored Abhishek, who won the frame by 35-28 points and registered berth in the pre-quarterfinal round of the tournament.
In the fourth match, Vipin Malhi beat Akshay Kumar by 3-1 frames. In the first frames, Vipin lost to Akshay by 41-15 points, while Vipin equalized the game by winning the second frame by 55-27 points. Displaying marvelous skills, Vipin emerged winner in the third and fourth frames by 44-19 and 36-26 points and entered into the pre-quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
Abhishek Pathania defeated Sheetal by 3-2 frames in the fifth match of the day. In the first frame, Abhishek emerged winner by 36-06 points, whereas in the second frame, Sheetal equalized the game by 39-20 points. In the third frame, Sheetal continued the winning pace and emerged winner by 37-34 points, whereas Abhishek again bounced back in the fourth frame and equalized the game by 31-22 points. In the fifth and deciding frame, Abhishek thrashed Sheetal by 38-18 points and sailed into the pre-quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
In the sixth match, Jaideep Manocha beat Nikhil Verma by 3-1 frames. Jaideep registered win in the first frame by 41-18 points, whereas in the second frame, Nikhil emerged winner by 53-29 points. Jaideep won the third and fourth frames in continuity by 41-11 and 42-18 points and entered into the pre-quarterfinal round of the tourney.
In the seventh match, Ishuk Choudhary beat Shivam by 3-1 frames. Ishuk lost to Shivam by 31-15 points in the first frame, whereas in the second, third and fourth frames, Ishuk displayed impressive skills and emerged winner by 34-14, 45-12 and 51-20 points and successfully entered into the pre-quarterfinal round of the tournament.
In the eight and last match of the day, Abhishek Goswami registered win over Kush Gupta by straight 3-0 frames. Abhishek registered win in the first frame by 33-19 points and continued the winning pace by clinching the second and the third frames by 46-04 and 36-29 points. After winning the game by 3-0 frames against Kush, he made it to the pre-quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
