Srinagar, June 21: Government today said that it has constituted a standing committee which will access the reasons for cost escalation of projects for which the department may seek revised administrative approval.
In a written reply to a question of Dina Nath Bhagat in Lower House, Minister incharge stated that Government has constituted a standing committee under the chairmanship of Administrative Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department to assess the cost escalation of projects for which the department may be seeking revised administrative approval.
“The design, drawings, specifications of projects are finalized prior to floating of tenders and they are not changed during the course of execution. As such, works have not been executed by deviating from NITs clauses,” the Minister stated.
“However, sometimes due to conditions beyond control of the department such as site conditions, litigations, shifting of utilities, dispute etc. the scope of work may undergo a change. Any deviation or escalation which may be un-warranted is taken serious note of by the department,” added the Minister.
