Painting, Theatre Workshop conclude

JAMMU, June 22: Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Art (JKCCA) Jammu in collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu concluded valedictory function of Theatre and Painting Workshop at Kala Kendra which had started on June 8, 2016.
Veteran senior artists and experts were appointed to conduct the workshop. The painting workshop was conducted by former Principal, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, T S Batra, Ashok Mehra, Jang S Verman, Kamal Nain Bhan and O P Sharma, senior artist of the State while the theatre workshop was conducted by O P Shakir and Kumar A Bharti.
Triloke Kaul, pioneer artist of modern art in the State was the chief guest while veteran artist and writer N D Jamwal was the guest of honour. The chief guest appreciated JKCCA for organizing events at the State, national and international levels in and outside the State in the field of art, culture and literature. He congratulated Pandit Kewal K Sharma, president JKCCA and OP Sharma, director of JKCCA for accomplishing the work as a mission to promote art, culture and literature.
Giving details Director JKCCA, O P Sharma, said that Centre is working with missionary zeal for promotion of art, culture and languages since 1999. It has organized hundreds of programs in the field of art, culture and literature. He added that the aim of organizing these workshops is to give an opportunity to the younger generation to explore their talent and give basic training to the students. In this workshop 32 children from 12 institutions participated.
He further disclosed that JKCCA is organizing national women painting camp at Kala Kendra Jammu from August 26 to 28 in memory of late Mrs Govind Kour, first woman sculptor of J&K and also organizing another national painting camp in JKTDC Complex Akhnoor. In these two camps artists from different parts of the country will participate. Both the events would be held in collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu.
Vice president of JKCCA, D P Abrol presented vote of thanks whereas Yash Pal Yash conducted the proceedings of the program.
