Scindia wants to see a team from Indore in IPL-6

INDORE, Sept 21:

Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association president Jyotiraditya Scindia today expressed hopes of having a team from the city in the next edition of Indian Premier League and said the MPCA would work in that direction.

“The new franchise will be selected by the BCCI, but I would like to see a team from Indore in IPL-6. MPCA will work in that direction,” said the Union Minister of State for Industry and Commerce, who is also in the IPL Governing Council.

After terminating Deccan Chargers’ contract last Friday, IPL’s GC on Saturday floated tender for a new team and short-listed 10 cities – Ahmedabad, Visakhapatnam, Dharamsala, Indore, Jamshedpur, Nagpur, Cuttack, Kanpur, Rajkot and Ranchi.

The new IPL team could be based out of any of these cities.

On Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s stand that the state should not host IPL matches, Scindia said, “IPL gives a platform to domestic cricketers to show their talent. Let the administrators of the sport take a call on whether it’s good or not.”

Terming the IPL as “shameful”, Chouhan had said that his government would not allow IPL matches in the state.(PTI)
