Enthusiastic Abhishek stuns Ishuk in summit clash, lifts Six Red Ball Tourney title

JAMMU, June 25: Enthus-iastic Abhishek Pathania stunned Ishuk Choudhary by wining the first 3 frames of best of 9 frames in the summit clash and lifted the title trophy of the Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament, organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
Abhishek outplayed Ishuk by 5-2 in the final to stamp his authority on the green baize. Pathania raced to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-9 final, but Ishuk found form and ran away with the next two frames. In no mood to give anything away, Abhishek did not allow Choudhary to win the match and clinched the next two frames.
Gunning for the title, enthusiastic Abhishek clearly walked to the table with the utmost poise winning the first frame by 35-09. Ishuk failed to halt the winning march of Abhishek, who again registered win in the second frame 43-30.
Abhishek raised the lead to 3-0 after clinching the third frame by 36-11, but Ishuk with his skills, pulled back the fourth frame 28-23 to survive in the game.
Ishuk looked unstoppable against his talented opponent Abhishek and cleared the table by 33-20 in the fifth frame and won thundering applauses from the spectators.
Fearing of equalizer, Abhishek dug deep into his reservoir of experience and won the sixth frame by 34-20 and raised the lead over Ishuk by 4-2 frames.
Abhishek took a deep breath after winning the frame, as it was sigh of relief and comfort for him to win the title trophy.
Cueists Abhishek and Ishuk made a good start in the seventh frame and continued to show their exemplary skills, but luck was again in the favour of Pathania, who won the frame by 39-27 and clinched the Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament title.
Marker Rakesh Sharma acted as scorer of the final match.
On the valedictory function, Siddharth Sharma, Chairman, J&K Billiards and Snooker Association was the chief guest, who awarded winner Abhishek Pathania, runner-up Ishuk Choudhary, first semifinalist Vidit Gawri and second semifinalist Jaideep Manocha in presence of Sanjeev Gupta, President, Nikhil Kapahi, Vice President, Vishal Abrol, General Secretary, Sohail Khalid, Treasurer and Sunil Jain, Gurjeev Singh, Members.
This was the first time that J&K Billiards and Snooker Association had organized Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament under the supervision of Organizing Committee members– Jaideep Manocha, Ishuk Choudhary, Sohail Khalid and Gurjeev Singh.
