JAMMU, July 4: Continuing their struggle for getting the demands fulfilled, the members of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union today suspended their work and held token strike for three hours.
The protesting employees assembled near the Administration Block in the campus and also held a strong protest demonstration cum dharna there. They raised slogans in support of their demands while several leaders of JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union addressed the protesting employees.
The protesting Non-Gazetted employees were demanding removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of eight employees of Human Genetics Department, 17 percent promotion quota for Graduate class IV employees as per Kashmir University, creation of posts of different categories, etc.
While addressing the employees, president NGEU, Vijay Kumar strongly criticized the Jammu University administration for its alleged insensitive and callous approach towards the employees, who are demanding their right. He warned to further intensify the protest if their demands are not conceded within a short period of time.
Other NGEU leaders, who also addressed the dharna, appealed the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University to personally intervene and ensure that all genuine demands of the Non-Gazetted employees are conceded for a congenial atmosphere in the campus.
