JAMMU, July 5: Pradesh Mahila Congress activists today held a strong protest demonstration against the price hike of the vegetables, pulses and other essential commodities here today.
Led by State president of  the Mahila Congress, Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA),  a large number of Mahila Congress workers carrying garlands of vegetables including lady fingers and tomatoes around their neck held strong protest demonstration against Modi Government at the Centre and PDP-BJP dispensation in the State. They were also carrying empty utensils  including plates and spoons etc and beating them during the protest.
The women Congress workers raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National president Amit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, State BJP-PDP Government and alleged that they have  miserably failed to control the price hike. They said that general people have been befooled by the BJP with the slogan of ‘Achhe Din’ but the people  are now realising that they have been deceived by the slogan mongers. The sharp hike in diesel and petrol has also badly affected the prices of vegetables. The prices of  pulses have also gone sky high and now a common man can not afford even pulses.
This Government has failed to address   the basic issue and provide essential services to the people. Many areas are reeling under the shortage of ration. Sugar has not been provided to the consumers for the last many months and the system has gone defunct.
Later, the protesting Congress workers wanted to take out rally towards Gumat and Shalamar Chowk, but they were stopped by police. They showed some resistance but strong contingent of Lady police foiled their protest march.
Besides Indu Pawar, Suman Choudhary working president Jammu, Vandana Makhnotra, Santosh Sharma, Sunita Rajput, Bhupinder Kour,  Meenakshi and others also addressed the gathering.
