UDHAMPUR, July 14: Inhabitants of Rathian in Udhampur today held a protest demonstration against PHE, PDD and PWD for their alleged failure in providing basic necessities to people of the area.
A number of children and women also took part in the protest and they raised slogans against the concerned authorities. They were agitating against inadequate supply of drinking water, electricity and unprecedented delay in construction of Mahatma Gandhi Marg road.
The protesting people lamented that despite being their village falling hardly two kilometers from the District headquarter and the new National Highway passing through it, the area was totally deprived of the basic necessities.
The protest demonstration was addressed by Veer Dev Singh, Karan Singh, Bodhraj and others, who threatened if their grievances are not addressed, the villagers would launch a chain of strike and may even resort to blockade of the National Highway passing through the area.
