JAMMU, July 15: On the appeal of Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, the agitating Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union today reduced the duration of it daily token strike from six hours to four hours till the forthcoming meeting of University Syndicate, which is scheduled to be held on July 23.
However, there was no break in the ongoing token protest, which was continued on Friday in support of the demands, such as removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of eight employees of Human Genetics Department, creation of posts of different categories, etc.
The protesting employees assembled near the Administration block in the campus and held a strong protest demonstration cum dharna there. They raised slogans in support of their demands while several leaders of JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union addressed the protesting employees.
While addressing the employees, president NGEU, Vijay Kumar appealed the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University to personally intervene and ensure that all genuine demands of the Non-Gazetted employees are conceded for a congenial atmosphere in the campus.
